Commands and shortcuts

Use plain language with Agent Mode for file, document and code tools. A few typed commands remain for chat settings, reminders, approvals and speed tests.

Reviewed against LlamaBoss 0.1.20 source. Updated October 3, 2026.

Chat settings

CommandPurpose
/cdShow this chat's working directory.
/cd <path>Set this chat's working directory. The path must be an existing folder.
/thinkShow the current thinking setting.
/think auto, off, on, low, medium, highSet thinking for this chat. Auto uses the backend default; support depends on the model and provider. Local models treat any effort level as On.
/agent_stepsShow the saved tool-step limit per reply.
/agent_steps 20Change the app's saved limit. Default 12; supported range 4–60, with larger or smaller positive values clamped into that range.

Send commands without attachments. These settings commands do not need Agent Mode. For example:

/cd D:\MyProject
/think high

Send each command as its own message.

Approvals

While an approval card is showing, you can type instead of clicking:

TypeSame as
approve once or /approve onceAllow Once.
approve or /approveAllow Always: trust this conversation for the current app session.
deny or /denyDeny.

Separate folder grants and package-install approvals still apply after Allow Always. See Agent Mode & approvals.

Reminders

The reminder commands run directly, including when Agent Mode is off. In Agent Mode you can also ask in plain language.

/reminder_create in 2 hours | Check the build results
/reminder_create at 2026-10-04 09:30 | Review the report
/reminder_list
/reminder_cancel <reminder-id>

Use seconds, minutes, hours or days for relative times. Absolute times use your local clock and 24-hour time. You can put the message on a new line instead of after |. List reminders to get the exact id to cancel. Reminders appear while the app is running; if it was closed when one became due, it appears after the next launch.

Model speed benchmark

/bench help
/bench
/bench 5 cold long
/bench stop

/bench [runs] [cold] [long] uses the selected text model and a fixed prompt, separate from your chat history. Runs can be 1–50, default 5. cold disables prompt-cache reuse on each local run; long uses a roughly 4k-token prompt instead of roughly 512 tokens. Each run requests 128 generated tokens; remote models can finish sooner.

Local run 1 is always cold. Hosted providers control their own caching and charge their normal rate. Results are saved as TSV under %USERPROFILE%\LlamaBoss\Shared\Benchmarks. Wait until the model is idle before starting. Use /bench stop to cancel.

File tools: ask in plain language

The old typed tool shortcuts were removed. Commands such as /pwd, /ls, /read, /grep, /cmd and /py are no longer intercepted by the app; they go to the model as ordinary text. Use /cd to show the working directory and enable Agent Mode for tool requests:

List the files in the working directory.
Read lines 120–180 of config.cpp.
Search src for timeout and show three surrounding lines.
Run the build in PowerShell and report the exit code.

Documents and data

The former CSV, spreadsheet and PDF slash commands were also removed. Ask the agent to inspect the attachment, extract selected text, fill a PDF form, or create a workbook. See Files & documents.

Code, notes and the web

Ask the agent to use its Python session, check Python health, create a script, save notes or fetch a web page. The old Python, notes and web-fetch slash commands no longer run tools directly. The total wait budget is not exposed as a typed command.

Retired Goals commands

The dedicated Goals feature and /goal commands were retired. For ongoing work, use Agent Mode with a Project, Workflow or Skill and send follow-ups when needed.
